The artist box: frida kahlo

Explore Frida Kahlo’s art, life and home in this interactive artist’s box, featuring twenty-four activity cards, a 150-piece jigsaw, a concertina fold-out and an iron-on patch. You might know that a streetcar crash set Frida Kahlo on a path to becoming an artist, but did you know that she first wanted to study medicine? Also that she had macaws, parakeets, a fawn and monkeys as pets? Or that she and Diego Rivera had a bridge that linked their two houses? Step into Frida Kahlo's world and learn about her fascinating work and life through engaging and fun activities. In her words: 'Keep on working, continue painting, don't ever stop singing.' The Artist Box: Frida Kahlo contains twenty-four activity cards with illustrations by Manjit Thapp and text by Susannah Jowitt. Fashion your own Frida flower pot, create a family tree inspired by her art and customize your clothes and accessories in her signature style. The large, fourteen-panel concertina features fantastic facts about Frida, a detailed timeline with quotes from her and others, and a trail of the important locations in her life. Piece together the 150-piece jigsaw puzzle of Frida’s studio in her Casa Azul home, and spot five of her paintings, two of her lovers and seven of her pets. Make a style statement by ironing Frida's patch onto your favourite tote bag, shirt or jacket. The second in Gift Lab’s Artist Box series celebrates living boldly like Frida!
