Disc brake pads for reliable braking power
Organic pads
Organic disc brake pads are composed of organic materials and a binder. They are quiet and bite well in wet conditions, making them ideal for city bikes and touring bikes. Organic pads wear faster than metallic pads but offer smooth braking without noise.
Semi-metallic pads
Semi-metallic pads offer a balance between braking power, wear, and noise. They contain a mix of organic and metallic materials. Semi-metallic pads are a good all-round choice for cyclists who ride on both paved and unpaved surfaces. They are compatible with most disc brakes.
Metallic pads
Metallic pads are the most durable and suitable for heavy use such as mountain biking and e-bikes at high speeds. They provide consistent braking power at high temperatures but can produce more noise than organic pads. Metallic pads last longer under heavy load.
Compatibility per brake brand
The mounting of disc brake pads differs between brake brands such as Shimano, SRAM, and Tektro. Check which brakes are on your bicycle before ordering. The brake levers and hoses must also be compatible with the brake type.
For optimal braking, disc brake pads and rotors must be clean and free of oil. Clean braking surfaces with brake cleaner. Also check the tires for sufficient grip, as braking power is useless without good tires.
