ABEC 3: A standard value used to measure the tolerance of the surface of rolling bearings. There are five classes: 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9. The higher the ABEC class, the greater the precision, efficiency, and speed capability, but the highest ABEC classes are not necessarily the fastest rotating components. All quality manufacturers worldwide use at least ABEC 1 as standard. At Enduro, the minimum standard is ABEC 3. ABEC 3: Steel balls Grade 10. Races in a 52100 chrome alloy and high-carbon steel. Rather than a single "lip" of a thick seal rubbing against an uneven surface, the LLB type uses 2 lips of seals, razor-thin, that slide into a notch with light contact. The outer "lip" keeps water and impurities out, while the inner seal retains the grease for smooth rotation and long intervals between maintenance.
