Description
Coelacanths are the closest evolutionary link between fish and the first amphibians, which made the transition from sea to land more than 362 million years ago in the Devonian period. While fishpods lived near the coast in muddy waters, coelacanths lived in open water. The modern species are deep-ocean predators. Dimensions: 14.25 x 6.18 x 4.75 centimeters.
