Description
The whale shark is a filter feeder, just like the world's second-largest fish, the basking shark. The creature extends its formidably large jaws and passively filters everything in its path. This mechanism, called "cross-flow filtration," is similar to that of some bony fish and baleen whales. The dimensions of the whale shark are 22 x 11.5 x 7.5 centimeters.
