De Duitse rijpony ruin van de schleich® Horse Club heeft prachtig gevlochten manen. Ondanks zijn kleine stokmaat ziet hij eruit als een groot paard. Dat is kenmerkend voor dit ponyras. De dieren hebben lange, slanke benen en een elegante lichaamsbouw. Dit onderscheidt ze van de gewone pony's die meestal korte, dikke beentjes hebben en een stevig, gedrongen lichaam. De Duitse rijpony wordt ook wel miniatuur warmbloed genoemd.
