The fire salamander looks beautiful with its black and yellow, shiny, scaly skin. You can easily spot it when it sits on a patch of moss, especially because it's quite large for an amphibian species. Its bright body color protects it from predators. It may look beautiful, but taking a bite out of it is not a good idea. Oh, a fire salamander! If you see this magnificent amphibian species in the forest or along a stream, you can count yourself lucky. Usually, it goes out at night. During the day, it prefers to hide in a hole in the ground or in a cave. Although its black and yellow pattern is very striking, most animals keep their distance. It is, after all, poisonous. This specimen, however, allows itself to be safely petted by friends.
