The tip of the PROFTEC screw also has a so-called pre-drilling 'cutting tip'; this allows you to work in most cases without pre-drilling, without splitting the wood. The 3.5 – 4.0 – 4.5 – 5.0mm screws can all be driven in with the same TX-20 bit. So you don't have to change bits when screwing with different sized screws. All screws from 40mm length are designed as partial-thread versions, with a spiral on the shank; for optimal function in wood-on-wood connections. Due to the 'free' unthreaded part of the PROFTEC screw, the second piece of wood is pulled extra tight against the first piece, making the wood joint much stronger. The screws are packed in a convenient plastic bucket, as a bulk package.
