Description

Scheveningen, 1813. De 16-jarige weesjongen Jan woont en werkt bij de bekende hoefsmid Hendrik Looye. Hij heeft talent met paarden en werkt hard. Wanneer Jan op een dag met Hendrik mee mag om de paarden van de Koninklijke Stallen te beslaan, ontmoet hij niet alleen het bijzondere paard Wexy, maar ook prins Willem Frederik. De twee jonge mannen hebben een klik en de prins neemt Jan aan als zijn vaste stalknecht. Het is een roerige tijd in Nederland en het duurt niet lang of de Prins van Oranje moet een flink leger samenstellen om tegen Napoleon te strijden. Jan reist mee en verzorgt de paarden zo goed als hij kan in de zware tijd. Tijdens de Slag bij Waterloo raken zowel de prins als Wexy gewond. Zal het Jan lukken om het bijzondere paard te redden?
