This hair soap is especially suitable for long hair. For this herbal shampoo, we make extracts of hops, calendula, nettle, and nasturtium from our forest garden, and a macerate of organic ginger from Het Blauwe Huis. The blend of essential oils is formulated to support your scalp, and the soap's base consists of wonderfully nourishing oils such as shea butter, jojoba, and olive oil. This is truly a worthy addition to our all-time favourite shampoo! But it's even more suitable for long hair and entirely vegan, as this version contains no heather honey. Even if you're just switching from regular shampoo to natural hair soap, it might not feel smooth right away. This can be due to previously used hair products; they often contain silicones, which make your hair shiny and give it a smooth layer, and natural hair soap slowly washes these out. Until they are completely washed away, it might feel a bit greasy. Also, your scalp sometimes needs time to adjust and regulate sebum production, this will happen naturally. Werfzeep shampoo can evoke varying reactions with all hair types, whether uncolored or dyed, dry or oily, short or long, blonde or dark. People with very long and/or dyed hair sometimes have some difficulty with it. The stiff feeling might not disappear quickly enough, but it could also be that using this shampoo soothes an irritated scalp, dandruff disappears, lifeless hair regains its volume, and frizzy hair becomes less dry. During a trip through Canada that she and Laurens took, she ended up on an idyllic family farm where, among other things, soap was made with a ladle and a huge pan. The wooden house smelled magically delightful, and on the very first day, Evelien helped make soap. To her surprise, this handmade soap, which was in the shower and by the sink, was soft and nourishing for her skin. Plagued by eczema since childhood, soap had been out of the question for years, but this soap turned out to be a completely different story than anything she had encountered before, which mainly gave her tight skin. Soap made from oils is a completely different product than factory soap made from refined fatty acids, with additives such as foam enhancers, synthetic perfumes, and preservatives, from which the glycerine has also been skimmed off. This discovery was enough for Evelien to become completely captivated by soap, the craft of soap making, all possible ingredients, and its effect on the skin. She began developing her soaps in a historic wharf cellar on the Oudegracht in Utrecht. Now, eight years later, she works with a growing team in the beautiful soap atelier on Westerkade.
