In forest soap, the best of the Wickenburghse forest comes together with Henk's hydrosols. It is a wonderfully earthy and fresh soap full of pine and fir, with extracts of hazelnut, ash, blackberry leaf, and ginkgo biloba. Werf soaps are wonderfully mild, nourishing soaps, full of nourishing oils and naturally occurring glycerin. Plant-based, organic, and lovingly handcrafted in Utrecht. Werfzeep is intended for sensitive skin and therefore suitable for all of us. Due to their mild action, our soaps are suitable as hand soap, shower soap, and even for the face. The shampoo bars are also suitable as hand and shower soap. Plant-based We work with the highest quality oils: plant-based, organic, and food-grade - even the essential oils - and therefore still full of beneficial substances. For this, we collaborate with growers who share the same conviction. We also pick some of the plants in our beloved Wickenburghse forest. Here we maintain our soap herb garden and harvest various ingredients that have grown here for centuries. Free from palm oil and irritating substances We never work with palm oil, animal fats, or irritating substances such as perfume oil, colorants, or foam improvers. From rich raw materials, we make rich soap, which also feels perfectly at home on the washbasin! Werfzeep is biodegradable and, of course, not tested on animals. Except for the honey soap and shampoo - both with honey from a local, organic beekeeper - our entire range is vegan. Palm oil-free. Organic & handmade All our soaps are made by hand, in a large pot, in our soap atelier on the Westerkade in Utrecht. For each batch, we make one hundred and fifty pieces in one block, which is cut after twenty-four hours. After this, the soap ripens for several weeks in our drying cabinets. After this process, a bar of Werfzeep weighs approximately 100 grams. When the soaps are ready to be packaged, they are transported by bicycle to the social workshop of Wij aan de Werf. Here they are packed by a super team of soap packers, in a wharf cellar on the Oudegracht, near our soap atelier. Environmental information about Werfzeep was founded in 2009 from Evelien's love for old crafts and natural products. During a trip through Canada that she and Laurens took, she ended up on an idyllic family farm where, among other things, soap was made, with a ladle and a huge pot. The wooden house smelled wonderfully fairy-tale-like, and from the very first day, Evelien helped make soap. To her surprise, this handmade soap, which was in the shower and at the sink, was soft and nourishing for her skin. Plagued by eczema since childhood, soap had been forbidden for years, but this soap turned out to be a completely different story from everything she had known until then, which mainly gave her tight skin. Soap made from oils is a completely different product than factory soap made from refined fatty acids, with additives such as foam improvers, synthetic perfumes, and preservatives, from which the glycerin has also been skimmed off. This discovery was enough for Evelien to become completely captivated by soap, the artisanal craft of soap making, all possible ingredients, and its effect on the skin. She began developing her soaps in a historic wharf cellar on the Utrecht Oudegracht. Now, eight years later, she works with a growing team in the beautiful soap atelier on the Westerkade.
