Oryza contains rice milk, which is where it gets its name (the botanical name for rice is Oryza Sativa). Rice milk as a drink is very healthy (and tasty), and it's also very good for your skin. We make the rice milk for this soap in-house, from organic-dynamic basmati rice from the Nieuwe Band. This way we know what kind of rice is in the rice milk, and that it only contains water and rice without unnecessary additives. This rice, with a Demeter certification, is grown according to bio-dynamic principles in North India. It comes from a Fairtrade project where farmers receive a double premium. This can be due to previously used hair products; they often contain silicones, which make your hair shine and create a smooth layer, and you slowly wash these out with natural hair soap. Werfzeep shampoo gives varying reactions for all hair types, uncoloured or dyed, dry or oily, short or long, blonde or dark. Environmental information about Werfzeep was founded in 2009 from Evelien's love for old crafts and natural products. During a trip through Canada that she and Laurens took, they ended up on an idyllic family farm where, among other things, soap was made, with a spoon and a huge pan. The wooden house smelled enchantingly wonderful and on the very first day, Evelien helped make soap. To her surprise, this handmade soap, which was in the shower and by the sink, was soft and nourishing for her skin. Plagued by eczema since childhood, soap had been out of the question for years, but this soap turned out to be a completely different story than anything she had encountered before, which mainly gave her a tight-feeling skin. Soap made from oils is a completely different product than factory soap made from refined fatty acids, with additives such as foam enhancers, synthetic perfumes and preservatives, and from which the glycerine has also been skimmed off. This discovery was enough for Evelien to become completely captivated by soap, the craft of soap making, all possible ingredients and their effect on the skin. She began to develop her soaps in a historic wharf cellar on the Oudegracht in Utrecht. Now, eight years later, she works with a growing team in the beautiful soap atelier on the Westerkade.
