Our ingredients

To make our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, so that it can be better processed into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruit and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for dogs.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffaloes. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich color and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is full of health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken and turkey, which together provide a delicious taste and aroma to the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in poultry ensure good muscle building and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

The healthy herbs that enrich our food come from plants from Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants and algae, among other things, dates back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in the dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the size of the dog, the breed or breed group, ingredients are given extra attention. Breed-specific complaints can be reduced by using herbs, roots, flowers and plants.

Australian shepherd specific vegetables, herbs and fruits

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Australian shepherd. We have also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Australian shepherd belongs. Based on these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Australian shepherd.

Glucosamine

Glucosamine is an endogenous substance found in joints, cartilage, synovial fluid and tendons. Glucosamine stimulates the production of cartilage and keeps joints supple.

Glucosamine is one of the most commonly used supplements for dogs with osteoarthritis and/or joint problems. This is not only the case in older dogs, or (too) heavy dogs, but increasingly also in younger, very active dogs. For example, due to a hereditary predisposition to joint problems. For these and other reasons, glucosamine is added to our dog food.

Thyme

Thyme is a genus from the mint family. It includes herbaceous or woody plants with a very aromatic scent. Thyme was used by the Greeks and Romans as a medicinal herb against lung diseases, rheumatism, paralysis, stomach cramps, tumors, headaches, colic and nervous weaknesses.

The medicinal properties of thyme are confirmed by the high values ​​of vitamin K it contains. In addition, thyme also contains a lot of iron, as well as the minerals calcium and manganese. It also contains the amino acid tryptophan and a significant amount of fiber.

Thyme is anti-inflammatory and has powerful antibacterial and antifungal properties. In addition, it stimulates the production of white blood cells and strengthens the immune system. Thyme is rich in antioxidants and effectively fights free radicals.

At Yourdog, we add thyme to our dog food because it could make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to rheumatism, paralysis, stomach and nerves. Thyme is also a natural bacterial fighter.

Carrot

The carrot as we know it today, or the orange carrot, is the result of many years of cross-breeding. The first white carrots originally came from Iran and were brought to the Netherlands by the VOC in the 17th century.

Carrots are an important source of vitamins and fiber. Carrots contain retinol (vitamin A1) and beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in the body. This is important for the development of capillaries and the health of all cells. The fiber in a carrot contributes to the dog's digestion. In addition, carrots are low in calories and good for coat and skin.

At Yourdog, we add carrot to the dog food because it can make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to the dog's coat and skin. But also to promote good vision and healthy digestion.

Puppy, adult or senior?

To help you make the right choice between our Australian shepherd dog food variants, you can use the following guidelines. If your Australian shepherd is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For an Australian shepherd older than 7 years, we recommend Yourdog Australian shepherd senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variant.

Transition advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another feed brand, we advise you to follow the following steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this for another two or three days. Then mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. At your own discretion, you can then start feeding 100% Yourdog Australian shepherd dog food.

Storage advice

After opening the Yourdog package, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture and light, which can affect shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage container or barrel in a dry, cool and dark place. It is best not to put the food loosely in the barrel, but to put it in the barrel with the entire bag, which you close as well as possible.
