Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich colour and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is packed with health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken and turkey, which together provide a delicious taste and aroma for the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in poultry ensure good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

Depending on the size of the dog, the breed or the breed group, certain ingredients are given extra attention. Breed-specific complaints can be reduced by using herbs, roots, flowers and plants.

Basil

Basil is a genus from the mint family. The name comes from ancient Greek, in which Obasileus means king, so the alternative name is king's herb. It is originally found between central Africa and Southeast Asia.

Like many herbs and seeds, fennel is rich in various vitamins and minerals. It contains a lot of vitamin A and C and the minerals iron and potassium.

Fennel can be added to our dog food because it can support digestion and counteract bloating in the stomach and intestines. It can contribute to a healthy cardiovascular system and can have a positive effect on joint problems. Fennel is also said to promote fresh breath.

Tomato

The tomato is part of the nightshade family and comes from the tomato plant, originally from Mesoamerica. Small varieties were cultivated in Mesoamerica by the Aztecs and Mayans. In 1893, it was decided in America that the fruit should be considered a vegetable.

At Yourdog, we use tomato at a culinary level, considering tomato as a vegetable.

Tomatoes are rich in nutrients, low in calories and have a high soluble fibre content, which aids digestion. Tomatoes also contain lycopene, which gives tomatoes their red colour. The redder a tomato is, the more lycopene it contains. Besides giving a tomato its red colour, it is also known as a powerful antioxidant. Research has shown that lycopene can offer protection against cancer and can help with cardiovascular diseases, among other things. In addition, tomatoes contain a lot of vitamin C and vitamin A and B complexes, which can contribute to healthy skin and an improved immune system.

Tomato is added to our dog food because it could make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to digestion, skin, vision and cardiovascular diseases. In addition, it can have a general purifying effect on the body.

Puppy, adult or senior?

To help you make the right choice between our Basset Bleu de Gascogne dog food variants, you can use the following guidelines. If your Basset Bleu de Gascogne is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For a Basset Bleu de Gascogne older than 7 years, we recommend the Yourdog Basset Bleu de Gascogne Senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variant.

Transition advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another food brand, we advise you to follow these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this for another two or three days. After that, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost entirely on Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. After this, you can, at your discretion, start feeding 100% Yourdog Basset Bleu de Gascogne dog food.

Storage advice

After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage container or bin in a dry, cool and dark place. It is best not to put the food loosely in the bin, but to place it with the entire bag, which you close as well as possible, in the bin.
