Our Ingredients

To produce our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, making it easier to process into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruit, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich color, and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol, fat, and fewer calories, this tender meat is bursting with health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken, and turkey, which together create a delicious taste and aroma in the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in poultry ensure good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

To provide dogs with extra valuable nutrients, super healthy vegetables are added to our food. Vegetables are not only nutritious, but they also have other healthy properties. The crude fiber in vegetables is good for the intestines and can contribute to digestion, among other things.

Herbs

The healthy herbs that enrich our food come from plants in Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants, and algae, among others, dates back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in the dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the size of the dog, the breed, or the breed group, certain ingredients are highlighted. Breed-specific issues can be alleviated through the use of herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.

Gordon Setter-Specific Vegetables, Herbs, and Fruits

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Gordon Setter. We have also investigated the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Gordon Setter belongs. From these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Gordon Setter.

Marigold

Marigold (calendula) is a plant that, like goldenrod, belongs to the daisy family. Calendula is a cultivated flower; it has been used for its diverse medicinal properties for many years. The original calendula species probably originated in Asia and Eastern Europe, but this field marigold is now rarely found in the wild. Marigold is also an edible plant for humans and is rich in nutrients.

Much information can be found about the positive effects of calendula. Calendula can be added to dog food because it could make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to the skin, mouth, throat, digestion, eyes, and paws. It is particularly good for the recovery of skin and mucous membranes, it has anti-inflammatory properties, and a regenerating effect. It can also prevent cramps during the digestion process.

Calendula is primarily used as an external care product for scratches or skin problems, among other things. But it can also be used internally due to its regenerating properties.

Nettle

Nettle is a genus of plants, with the common nettle and annual nettle found in the Netherlands and Belgium. Nettle is known for its cleansing and blood-purifying effects. According to various sources, nettle is antibacterial and therefore very suitable for infectious diseases. The leaves are also suitable for diarrhea or other digestive disorders.

Nettle supports the function of the liver and kidneys by stimulating the breakdown of waste products. In addition, it supports bladder function and dog hair growth.

Nettle also contains silicic acid, or silicon. This is a building block that is part of connective tissue in bones, tendons, ligaments, skin, hair, and nails, among other things. Silicon supports the natural production of skin (cells) and helps maintain healthy skin.

At Yourdog, we add nettle to our dog food because it can make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to the dog's coat, skin, and bones, as well as preventing digestive and/or urinary problems.

Mango

Mango belongs to the genus Mangifera and probably originated in northeastern India and Southeast Asia. It is a stone fruit with varying shapes and grows on a tree that can reach a height of 40 meters.

This delicious summery treat is packed with essential vitamins and minerals. It contains vitamins A, B6, C, and E, and is rich in potassium, beta-carotene, and alpha-carotene. Furthermore, mango contains many healthy dietary fibers that contribute to strengthening the immune system and digestion. The natural antioxidant (vitamin C) helps support vital bodily functions. Vitamin A is full of beta-carotene, which can help maintain and improve eyesight.

We add mango to our dog food because it can make a positive contribution to supporting the dog's immune system and healthy digestion. In addition, mango can support the dog's eyesight.

Puppy, Adult, or Senior?

To help you choose the right variant of our Gordon Setter dog food, you can use the following guidelines. If your Gordon Setter is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For a Gordon Setter older than 7 years, we recommend Yourdog Gordon Setter Senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variant.

We are convinced of the quality of our food. That's why we offer a palatability guarantee on all Yourdog packages. If your Gordon Setter does not seem to like its Yourdog dog food, please contact us. We will help you analyze the problems. If we cannot resolve it together, we will refund your purchase price.

Feeding Advice

Transition Advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another food brand, we recommend following these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then, feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important to let the dog get used to this for another two or three days. After that, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely transitioned to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. At your discretion, you can then start feeding 100% Yourdog Gordon Setter dog food.

Storage Advice

After opening the Yourdog package, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage container or bin in a dry, cool, and dark place. It is best not to pour the food loosely into the bin, but to place it in the bin with the entire bag, which you seal as well as possible.
