Our ingredients

To make our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, so that it can be processed more easily into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruit and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich colour and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With a lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is full of health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken and turkey, which together provide a delicious taste and aroma to the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in the poultry ensure good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

To provide dogs with extra valuable nutrients, super-healthy vegetables have been added to our food. Thus, vegetables are not only nutritious, but they also have other healthy properties. The crude fibre in vegetables is good for the intestines and can contribute to digestion, among other things.

Fruit

We add a unique combination of fruits to Yourdog, ensuring the dog receives all essential, natural antioxidants. Fruit can be good for the dog's immune system, and it can also contribute to fresh breath or maintaining healthy digestion. These natural ingredients promote the dog's health.

Herbs

The healthy herbs that enrich our food come from plants from Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants and algae, among other things, dates back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in the dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the size of the dog, the breed or the breed group, ingredients are given extra attention. Breed-specific complaints can be reduced by using herbs, roots, flowers and plants.

Halden hound specific vegetables, herbs and fruit

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Halden hound. We have also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Halden hound belongs. From these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Halden hound.

Basil

Basil is a genus from the mint family. The name comes from Ancient Greek, where Obasileus means king, so the alternative name is king's herb. It originally occurs between Central Africa and Southeast Asia.

According to traditional medicine, basil was used as a treatment for arthritis, bronchitis, colds, stomach ulcers, heart disease, and abdominal pain, among other things. Research has shown that basil can have strong antioxidant, antiviral, and antimicrobial properties. In addition, basil can promote digestion, help eliminate waste products, and can have an antispasmodic and calming effect on the dog.

Bilberry

Bilberries belong to the heather family of plants and grow mainly in open forests in the Northern Hemisphere. The plant has long been used in traditional European medicine and is said to be known for its positive effects on gastrointestinal diseases and diabetes.

Bilberries can be added to our dog food because they are rich in antioxidants, which protect the body against free radicals. In addition, they contain good fibre for digestion and the berries are rich in vitamins C and K. They could support the immune system and contribute to the dog's overall health.

Cranberry

The cranberry is a plant from the heather family. This plant is mainly found on the Wadden Islands in the Netherlands and is very rare in the rest of the Netherlands. The plant originally comes from North America and is said to have first arrived in the Netherlands around 1845.

Cranberries contain a unique mix of nutrients that can provide a powerful health boost to dogs. The berries are rich in minerals such as potassium, which ensures a healthy level of vital fluids in the body. These berries are also packed with vitamins A, B, and C and antioxidants to support the immune system. Vitamin C makes the urine more acidic, which makes the environment in the bladder less attractive for bacteria. The addition of cranberry can also have a pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effect. The healthy fibres in cranberries have a healthy influence on digestion and ensure a longer feeling of fullness.

Cranberry is added to our dog food because it could make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to, among other things, digestion, skin, joints, bones, and nerve functions.

Puppy, adult or senior?

To help you make the right choice between our Halden hound dog food varieties, you can use the following guidelines. If your Halden hound is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variety. For a Halden hound older than 7 years, we recommend the Yourdog Halden hound senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variety.

We are convinced of the quality of our food. That is why we offer a palatability guarantee on all Yourdog packaging. If your Halden hound does not seem to like its Yourdog dog food, please contact us. We will help you analyze the problems. If we cannot resolve it together, we will refund your purchase price.

Feeding advice

Body weight (kg) Daily amount (g)
10 - 20 190 - 315
20 - 40 315 - 525
40 - 60 525 - 750

Transition advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another food brand, we recommend following these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then, feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this for another two or three days. After that, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. At your own discretion, you can then start feeding 100% Yourdog Halden hound dog food.

Storage advice

After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage container or bin in a dry, cool and dark place. It is best not to put the food loosely in the bin, but to place it with the entire bag, which you close as well as possible, in the bin.
