Our Ingredients

To produce our feed, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, making it easier to process into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruits, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range, grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste, rich color, and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is full of health benefits.

Poultry

The healthy herbs that enrich our feed come from plants in Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants, and algae has its origins thousands of years ago. These ingredients support the natural processes in the dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the dog's size, breed, or breed group, certain ingredients are emphasized. Breed-specific complaints can be reduced through the use of herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.

Istarski Ostrodlaki Gonic Specific Vegetables, Herbs, and Fruits

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Istarski Ostrodlaki Gonic. We have also investigated the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Istarski Ostrodlaki Gonic belongs. From these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Istarski Ostrodlaki Gonic.

Basil

Basil is a genus from the mint family. The name comes from Old Greek, where "Obasileus" means king, hence its alternative name, "king's herb". It is originally found between central Africa and Southeast Asia.

According to traditional medicine, basil was used as a treatment for arthritis, bronchitis, colds, stomach ulcers, heart diseases, and abdominal pain, among others. Research has shown that basil can have strong antioxidant, antiviral, and antimicrobial properties. Additionally, basil can promote digestion, help eliminate waste products, and can have an antispasmodic and calming effect on dogs.

Tomato

The tomato is part of the nightshade family and originates from the tomato plant, originally from Mesoamerica. Small varieties were cultivated in Mesoamerica by the Aztecs and Mayans. In 1893, it was decided in America that the fruit should be considered a vegetable.

At Yourdog, we use tomatoes at a culinary level, treating tomatoes as a vegetable.

Tomatoes are rich in nutrients, low in calories, and have a high soluble fiber content that aids digestion. Tomatoes also contain lycopene, which gives them their red color. The redder a tomato is, the more lycopene it contains. Besides giving a tomato its red color, it is also known as a powerful antioxidant. Research has shown that lycopene can, among other things, offer protection against cancer and can help with cardiovascular diseases. Additionally, tomatoes contain many vitamin C and vitamin A- and B-complexes, which can contribute to healthy skin and an improved immune system.

Tomato is added to our dog food because it could positively contribute to preventing breed-specific complaints related to digestion, skin, vision, and cardiovascular diseases. Additionally, it can have a general purifying effect on the body.

Cranberry

The cranberry is a plant from the heath family. In the Netherlands, this plant is mainly found on the Wadden Islands and is very rare in the rest of the Netherlands. The plant originally comes from North America and is believed to have first arrived in the Netherlands around 1845.

Cranberries contain a unique blend of nutrients that can provide a powerful health boost to dogs. The berries are rich in minerals such as potassium, which ensures a healthy level of vital fluids in the body. These berries are also packed with vitamins A, B, and C and antioxidants to support the immune system. Vitamin C acidifies the urine, making the bladder environment less attractive for bacteria. The addition of cranberry can also have pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effects. The healthy fibers in cranberries have a beneficial effect on digestion and provide a longer feeling of fullness.

Cranberry is added to our dog food because it could positively contribute to preventing breed-specific complaints related to digestion, skin, joints, bones, and nerve functions, among others.

Puppy, Adult, or Senior?

To help you make the right choice among our Istarski Ostrodlaki Gonic dog food varieties, you can use the following guidelines. If your Istarski Ostrodlaki Gonic is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variety. For an Istarski Ostrodlaki Gonic older than 7 years, we recommend Yourdog Istarski Ostrodlaki Gonic Senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variety.

Transition Advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another feed brand, we advise following these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then, feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important to let the dog get used to this for another two or three days. After that, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog will now be almost fully transitioned to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. At your discretion, you can then start feeding 100% Yourdog Istarski Ostrodlaki Gonic dog food.

Storage Advice

After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage container or bin in a dry, cool, and dark place. It is best not to put the food loosely in the bin but to place the entire bag, tightly sealed as much as possible, into the bin.
