Our Ingredients

To produce our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, making it easier to process into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruits, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich color, and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content, and fewer calories, this tender meat is brimming with health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken, and turkey, which together provide a delicious taste and aroma to the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in poultry ensure good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

The healthy herbs that enrich our food come from plants in Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants, and algae, among others, dates back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in your dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the dog's size, breed, or breed group, certain ingredients are highlighted. Breed-specific complaints can be reduced by using herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.

Lakeland Terrier Specific Vegetables, Herbs, and Fruits

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Lakeland Terrier. We have also investigated the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Lakeland Terrier belongs. From these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Lakeland Terrier.

Spirulina

Spirulina is a nutritional supplement with exceptionally high nutritional value, made from blue-green algae found in tropical and subtropical regions. It belongs to the microalgae family. Did you know that spirulina can be grown in space and consists of 60 to 70% protein?

It is rich in vitamins, including B12, minerals such as calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium, and potassium, and all essential amino acids. Spirulina can generally contribute to your dog's health and well-being. Additionally, it can support the immune system and promote healthy skin and a shiny coat. The algae also have a detoxifying effect and promote digestion.

Banana

The banana plant grows in tropical regions where the temperature does not drop below 10 degrees Celsius. There is even evidence that bananas were cultivated in New Guinea about 7,000 years ago. The name is derived from the word 'Obanaana' from the language of the Wolof people.

Bananas are rich in vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A, C, and B11 (folic acid), and the minerals potassium, magnesium, iron, and zinc. The natural antioxidant, vitamin C, can strengthen immunity. Vitamin B11, or folic acid, can support the immune system and contribute to a well-functioning nervous system. It can also reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Potassium can also help lower blood pressure in dogs with high blood pressure, while magnesium can help relax muscles and promote bone growth. Additionally, bananas contain many good fibers and promote more beneficial bacteria in the gut.

Carrot

The carrot as we know it today, or the orange carrot, is the result of many years of cross-breeding. The first white carrots originated in Iran and were brought to the Netherlands by the VOC in the 17th century.

Carrots are an important source of vitamins and fiber. Carrots contain retinol (vitamin A1) and beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in the body. This is important for capillary development and the health of all cells. The fiber in a carrot contributes to your dog's digestion. Additionally, carrots are low in calories and good for coat and skin.

At Yourdog, we add carrots to dog food because they can positively contribute to preventing breed-specific complaints related to your dog's coat and skin. They also promote good vision and healthy digestion.

Puppy, Adult, or Senior?

To help you make the right choice between our Lakeland Terrier dog food variants, you can use the following guidelines. If your Lakeland Terrier is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For a Lakeland Terrier older than 7 years, we recommend Yourdog Lakeland Terrier Senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variant.

Transition Advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another food brand, we recommend following these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. Your dog can get used to this for two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important to let your dog get used to this for another two or three days. After that, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. Your dog is now almost entirely transitioned to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. At your discretion, you can then start feeding 100% Yourdog Lakeland Terrier dog food.

Storage Advice

After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage container or bin in a dry, cool, and dark place. It is best not to put the food loosely in the bin, but to place the entire bag, which you seal as well as possible, into the bin.
