Our ingredients

To make our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, so that it can be processed better into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruit and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for dogs.

Buffalo

At Yourdog we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich color and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is packed with health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog we use duck, chicken and turkey which together provide a delicious taste and aroma of the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in poultry ensure good muscle building and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

Herbs

The healthy herbs that enrich our food come from plants from Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants and algae, among others, originated thousands of years ago. These ingredients support the natural processes in the dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the size of the dog, the breed or the breed group, ingredients are given extra attention. Breed-specific complaints can be reduced by using herbs, roots, flowers and plants.

Leonberger specific vegetables, herbs and fruits

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Leonberger. We have also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Leonberger belongs. Based on these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Leonberger.

Thyme

Thyme is a genus from the mint family. It includes herbaceous or woody plants with a very aromatic scent. Thyme was used by the Greeks and Romans as a medicinal herb for lung diseases, rheumatism, paralysis, stomach cramps, tumors, headaches, colic and nervous weaknesses.

The medicinal properties of thyme are confirmed by the high values ​​of vitamin K it contains. In addition, thyme also contains a lot of iron, as well as the minerals calcium and manganese. It also contains the amino acid tryptophan and a significant amount of fiber.

Thyme is anti-inflammatory and has a powerful antibacterial and fungicidal effect. In addition, it stimulates the production of white blood cells and strengthens the immune system. Thyme is rich in antioxidants and effectively combats free radicals.

At Yourdog we add thyme to our dog food because it could make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to rheumatism, paralysis, stomach and nerves. Thyme is also a natural bacterial killer.

Banana

The banana plant grows in tropical areas where the temperature does not drop below 10 degrees Celsius. There is even evidence that bananas were cultivated in New Guinea about 7,000 years ago. The name is derived from the word 'Obanaana' from the language of the Wolof people.

Bananas are rich in vitamins and minerals. Including vitamins A, C and B11 (folic acid) and the minerals potassium, magnesium, iron and zinc. The natural antioxidant, vitamin C, can strengthen resistance. Vitamin B11, or folic acid, can support the immune system and can contribute to a well-functioning nervous system. It can also reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Potassium can also help lower blood pressure in dogs with high blood pressure, magnesium can help relax muscles and promote bone growth. In addition, bananas contain many good fibers and ensure more good bacteria in the intestines.

Celery

Celery is a plant from the parsley family. The plant is often found along the coast on wet ground.

Celery is rich in vitamins A, C and K, but also contains a lot of folic acid and potassium. In addition, celery is fat-free, rich in fiber and very low in calories.

We add celery to our dog food because it can make a positive contribution to supporting the dog's immune system and digestion. It can also have a positive effect on the skin and coat, the functioning of muscles and nerves due to vitamin A and the maintenance of strong bones due to vitamin K.

Puppy, adult or senior?

To help you make the right choice between our Leonberger dog food variants, you can use the following guidelines. If your Leonberger is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For a Leonberger older than 7 years, we recommend the Yourdog Leonberger senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variant.

We are convinced of the quality of our food. That is why we provide a palatability guarantee on all Yourdog packaging. If your Leonberger does not seem to like his Yourdog dog food, please contact us. We will help you analyze the problems. If we cannot resolve it together, you will receive a refund of the purchase price.

Feeding advice

Transition advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another feed brand, we advise you to follow the following steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this for two or three days again. Then mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. After your own discretion, you can then start feeding 100% Yourdog Leonberger dog food.

Storage advice

After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage box or container in a dry, cool and dark place. It is best not to put the food loosely in the container, but to put it in the container with the entire bag, which you close as well as possible.
