Our Ingredients

For the production of our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, making it easier to process into kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruits, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich color, and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content, and fewer calories, this tender meat is full of health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken, and turkey, which together provide a delicious taste and aroma to the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in poultry ensure good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

To provide dogs with extra valuable nutrients, super healthy vegetables are added to our food. Vegetables are not only nutritious, but they also have other healthy properties. The crude fiber in vegetables is good for the intestines and can contribute to digestion, among other things.

Herbs

The healthy herbs that enrich our food come from plants in Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants, and algae, among other things, dates back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in the dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the size of the dog, its breed, or breed group, certain ingredients are highlighted. Breed-specific ailments can be alleviated by the use of herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.

Newfoundland Specific Vegetables, Herbs, and Fruits

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Newfoundland. We have also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Newfoundland belongs. Based on these studies, and in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Newfoundland.

Glucosamine

Glucosamine is an endogenous substance found in joints, cartilage, joint fluid, and tendons. Glucosamine stimulates cartilage production and keeps joints supple.

Glucosamine is one of the most commonly used supplements for dogs with osteoarthritis and/or joint problems. This is not only the case for older dogs, or (overweight) dogs, but increasingly also for younger, very active dogs. For example, due to a hereditary predisposition to joint problems. For these and other reasons, glucosamine is added to our dog food.

Cranberry

The cranberry is a plant from the heath family. In the Netherlands, this plant is mainly found on the Wadden Islands and is very rare in the rest of the Netherlands. The plant originally comes from North America and is said to have first arrived in the Netherlands around 1845.

Cranberries contain a unique mix of nutrients that can provide a powerful health boost to dogs. The berries are rich in minerals such as potassium, which ensures a healthy level of vital fluids in the body. These berries are also packed with vitamins A, B, and C, and antioxidants to support the immune system. Vitamin C acidifies the urine, which makes the bladder environment less attractive for bacteria. The addition of cranberry can also have a pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effect. The healthy fibers in cranberries have a healthy influence on digestion and ensure a longer feeling of fullness.

Tomato

The tomato is part of the nightshade family and comes from the tomato plant, originally from Mesoamerica. Small varieties were cultivated in Mesoamerica by the Aztecs and Mayans. In 1893, it was decided in America that the fruit should be considered a vegetable.

At Yourdog, we use tomato at a culinary level, considering tomato as a vegetable.

Tomatoes are rich in nutrients, low in calories, and have a high soluble fiber content which contributes to digestion. Tomatoes also contain lycopene, to which they owe their red color. The redder a tomato is, the more lycopene it contains. Besides giving a tomato its red color, it is also known as a powerful antioxidant. Research has shown that lycopene can, among other things, offer protection against cancer and can help with cardiovascular diseases. In addition, tomatoes contain a lot of vitamin C and vitamin A and B complexes, which can contribute to healthy skin and an improved immune system.

Tomato is added to our dog food because it could make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to digestion, skin, vision, and cardiovascular diseases. In addition, it can have a general purifying effect on the body.

Puppy, Adult or Senior?

To help you make the right choice between our Newfoundland dog food varieties, you can use the following guidelines. If your Newfoundland is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variety. For a Newfoundland older than 7 years, we recommend Yourdog Newfoundland Senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variety.

We are convinced of the quality of our food. That is why we provide a palatability guarantee on all Yourdog packaging. If your Newfoundland does not seem to like its Yourdog dog food, please contact us. We will help you analyze the problems. If we cannot resolve it together, you will receive a refund of your purchase amount.

Feeding Advice

Transition Advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another feed brand, we advise you to follow these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this for another two or three days. After that, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. At your own discretion, you can then start feeding 100% Yourdog Newfoundland dog food.

Storage Advice

After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage box or container in a dry, cool, and dark place. It is best not to pour the food loosely into the container, but to place the entire bag, which you close as tightly as possible, into the container.
