Our ingredients

To make our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, making it easier to process into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruits, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for dogs.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich color, and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content, and fewer calories, this tender meat is full of health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken, and turkey, which together provide a delicious taste and aroma to the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in poultry ensure good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

The healthy herbs that enrich our food come from plants in Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants, and algae, among other things, dates back thousands of years. These ingredients support natural processes in a dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the dog's size, breed, or breed group, certain ingredients are highlighted. Breed-specific issues can be alleviated through the use of herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.

Norwegian Elkhound-specific vegetables, herbs, and fruits

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Norwegian Elkhound. We have also investigated the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Norwegian Elkhound belongs. Based on these studies, and in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Norwegian Elkhound.

Basil

Basil is a genus from the mint family. The name comes from Ancient Greek, where "basileus" means king, hence the alternative name "king's herb." It originated between Central Africa and Southeast Asia.

According to traditional medicine, basil was used as a treatment for conditions including arthritis, bronchitis, colds, stomach ulcers, heart disease, and abdominal pain. Research has shown that basil can have strong antioxidant, antiviral, and antimicrobial properties. Additionally, basil can promote digestion, help eliminate waste products, and may have antispasmodic and calming effects on dogs.

Chamomile

Chamomile is a genus from the daisy family. Chamomile is widely cultivated in Hungary and Eastern Europe. It also grows wild throughout Europe. The name Chamomile comes from a Greek word meaning "ground apple" and refers to its apple-like scent. Chamomile has a great reputation in naturopathy.

Chamomile can be added to Yourdog dog food because it could positively contribute to preventing breed-specific complaints related to the stomach, intestines, skin, rheumatism, nerves, inflammation, and urinary tract.

Chamomile can have a mild calming effect on dogs and could therefore be used for dogs that often experience stress. Additionally, it can have a positive effect on dogs with "nervous digestion," as it can have antispasmodic and antiseptic properties.

Puppy, adult, or senior?

To help you choose the right variant of our Norwegian Elkhound dog food, you can use the following guidelines. If your Norwegian Elkhound is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For a Norwegian Elkhound older than 7 years, we recommend Yourdog Norwegian Elkhound Senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variant.

If your Norwegian Elkhound doesn't seem to like its Yourdog dog food, please contact us. We will help you analyze the problems. If we can't find a solution together, you will receive a refund of your purchase amount.

Feeding Advice

Transition Advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another food brand, we recommend following these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then, feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important to let the dog get used to this for another two or three days. After that, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. At your discretion, you can then start feeding 100% Yourdog Norwegian Elkhound dog food.

Storage Advice

After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage container or bin in a dry, cool, and dark place. It is best not to pour the food loosely into the container, but to place the entire bag, resealed as tightly as possible, inside the container.
