Our Ingredients

To make our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, making it easier to process into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruit, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffaloes. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich color, and it's packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol, fat, and fewer calories, this tender meat is full of health benefits.

Poultry

Depending on the size of the dog, the breed, or the breed group, certain ingredients are highlighted. Breed-specific complaints can be alleviated by using herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.

Norwegian Elkhound Specific Vegetables, Herbs, and Fruits

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Norwegian Elkhound. We also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and FCI breed group to which the Norwegian Elkhound belongs. From these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Norwegian Elkhound.

Basil

Basil is a genus from the mint family. The name comes from Ancient Greek, where 'basileus' means king, hence its alternative name, king's herb. It originally occurs between Central Africa and Southeast Asia.

According to traditional medicine, basil was used as a treatment for arthritis, bronchitis, colds, stomach ulcers, heart disease, and abdominal pain, among other things. Research has shown that basil can have strong antioxidant, antiviral, and antimicrobial properties. Additionally, basil can promote digestion, help eliminate waste products, and may have antispasmodic and calming effects on dogs.

Chamomile

Chamomile is a genus from the daisy family. Chamomile is widely cultivated in Hungary and Eastern Europe. It also grows wild throughout Europe. The name Chamomile comes from a Greek word meaning 'ground apple' and refers to its apple-like scent. Chamomile has an excellent reputation in natural medicine.

We can add Chamomile to Yourdog dog food because it could make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to the stomach, intestines, skin, rheumatism, nerves, inflammation, and urinary tract.

Chamomile can have a mild calming effect on dogs and could therefore be used for dogs that frequently experience stress. In addition, it can have a positive effect on dogs with a 'nervous digestion'. It can have antispasmodic and antiseptic properties.

Chicory

Puppy, Adult, or Senior?

To help you make the right choice among our Norwegian Elkhound dog food varieties, you can use the following guidelines. If your Norwegian Elkhound is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For a Norwegian Elkhound older than 7 years, we recommend Yourdog Norwegian Elkhound Senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variant.

Feeding Guide

Transition Advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another food brand, we recommend following these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. Let your dog get used to this for two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important to let your dog get used to this for another two or three days. After that, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. Your dog is now almost completely transitioned to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. After this, you can start feeding 100% Yourdog Norwegian Elkhound dog food at your discretion.

Storage Advice

After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage container or bin in a dry, cool, and dark place. It is best not to pour the food loosely into the bin, but to place the entire bag, sealed as tightly as possible, into the bin.
