Our Ingredients

To make our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, so that it can be processed better into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruits, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-roaming and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich color and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is full of health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken, and turkey, which together provide a delicious taste and aroma to the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in poultry ensure good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

The healthy herbs that enrich our food come from plants from Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants, and algae dates back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in your dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the dog's size, breed, or breed group, certain ingredients are given extra attention. Breed-specific complaints can be reduced by using herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.

Picardy Spaniel-specific vegetables, herbs, and fruits

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Picardy Spaniel. We also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Picardy Spaniel belongs. From these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients were selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Picardy Spaniel.

Fenugreek

Fenugreek, like the pea, is a plant from the legume family. The plant is also called foenugreek or 'Greek hay'. It originally came from Mesopotamia and was already known in the Mediterranean region in antiquity. Today, fenugreek is also cultivated in Central Asia.

Fenugreek is rich in iron and copper. Fenugreek contains saponin and coumarins, which can help with vein problems. Furthermore, it has anti-inflammatory properties (natural anti-inflammatory) and promotes bile production.

Fenugreek can be added to our food to prevent arthritis, asthma, and skin problems. The stomach and intestines also benefit from the positive effects of fenugreek, and it supports healthy digestion.

Banana

The banana plant grows in tropical areas where the temperature does not drop below 10 degrees Celsius. There is even evidence that the banana was cultivated in New Guinea about 7,000 years ago. The name is derived from the word 'Obanaana' from the language of the Wolof people.

Bananas are rich in vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A, C, and B11 (folic acid) and the minerals potassium, magnesium, iron, and zinc. The natural antioxidant, vitamin C, can strengthen immunity. Vitamin B11, or folic acid, can support the immune system and contribute to a well-functioning nervous system. It can also reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Potassium can contribute to lowering blood pressure in dogs with high blood pressure, and magnesium can help relax muscles and promote bone growth. In addition, bananas contain many good fibers and ensure more good bacteria in the intestines.

Tomato

The tomato is part of the nightshade family and comes from the tomato plant, originally from Mesoamerica. Small varieties were cultivated in Mesoamerica by the Aztecs and Mayans. In 1893, it was decided in America that the fruit should be considered a vegetable.

At Yourdog, we use tomatoes at a culinary level, considering them as a vegetable.

Tomatoes are rich in nutrients, low in calories, and have a high soluble fiber content which contributes to digestion. Tomatoes also contain lycopene, which gives them their red color. The redder a tomato is, the more lycopene it contains. Besides giving a tomato its red color, it is also known as a powerful antioxidant. Research has shown that lycopene can, among other things, offer protection against cancer and can help with cardiovascular diseases. In addition, tomatoes contain a lot of vitamin C and vitamin A- and B-complexes, which can contribute to healthy skin and an improved immune system.

Tomato is added to our dog food because it could positively contribute to preventing breed-specific complaints related to digestion, skin, eyesight, and cardiovascular diseases. In addition, it can have a general cleansing effect on the body.

Puppy, Adult, or Senior?

To help you make the right choice between our Picardy Spaniel dog food varieties, you can use the following guidelines. If your Picardy Spaniel is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For a Picardy Spaniel older than 7 years, we recommend the Yourdog Picardy Spaniel senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variant.

Transition Advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another feed brand, we advise you to follow these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important to let the dog get used to this for another two or three days. Then mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. At your discretion, you can then start feeding 100% Yourdog Picardy Spaniel dog food.

Storage Advice

After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage container or bin in a dry, cool, and dark place. It is best not to put the food loosely in the bin, but to place it with the entire bag, which you close as well as possible, in the bin.
