Our ingredients

To produce our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, making it easier to process into kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruits, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich color, and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is full of health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken, and turkey, which together create a delicious taste and aroma for the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in poultry ensure good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

Depending on the dog's size, breed, or breed group, certain ingredients are highlighted. Breed-specific complaints can be reduced by using herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Podengo português. We have also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and FCI breed group to which the Podengo português belongs. From these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Podengo português.

Peppermint

Peppermint is a plant from the mint family. It is the plant that led to the creation of peppermint candies. Peppermint originated from a cross between water mint and spearmint. The plant was found in England in the seventeenth century in a field of mint plants. The plant is cultivated in England, France, China, Japan, and North and South America.

Peppermint can be added to our dog food because it could make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to the intestines and gallbladder. Preventing itching is also among the properties of the peppermint plant.

Peppermint can promote fresh breath. The mint in peppermint can have an anti-spasmodic effect on the intestines and promotes the flow of bile into the intestines. In addition, it can have an antiseptic effect.

Peppermint is rich in vitamins A and C and minerals such as calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, and phosphorus.

Carrot

The carrot as we know it today, or the orange carrot, is the result of many years of cross-breeding. The first white carrots originally came from Iran and were brought to the Netherlands by the VOC in the 17th century.

Carrots are an important source of vitamins and fiber. For example, carrots contain retinol (vitamin A1) and beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in the body. This is important for capillary development and the health of all cells. The fiber in a carrot contributes to the dog's digestion. Banana

The banana plant grows in tropical regions where the temperature does not drop below 10 degrees Celsius. There is even evidence that bananas may have been cultivated in New Guinea about 7,000 years ago. The name is derived from the word 'Obanaana' from the language of the Wolof people.

Bananas are rich in vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A, C, and B11 (folic acid), and the minerals potassium, magnesium, iron, and zinc. The natural antioxidant, vitamin C, can strengthen the immune system. Vitamin B11, or folic acid, can support the immune system and contribute to a well-functioning nervous system. It can also reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Additionally, potassium can help lower blood pressure in dogs with high blood pressure, magnesium can help relax muscles and promote bone growth. Furthermore, bananas contain many good fibers and promote more good bacteria in the intestines.

Puppy, adult, or senior?

To help you make the right choice between our Podengo português dog food variants, you can use the following guidelines. If your Podengo português is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For a Podengo português older than 7 years, we recommend Yourdog Podengo português senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variant.

Transition advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another food brand, we advise you to follow these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this again for two or three days. After that, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. After this, you can start feeding 100% Yourdog Podengo português dog food at your own discretion.

Storage advice

After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage container or bin in a dry, cool, and dark place. It is best not to pour the food loosely into the bin, but to place the entire bag, which you have sealed as well as possible, into the bin.
