Our ingredients

To make our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, so that it can be better processed into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruit and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for dogs.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich colour and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With a lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is packed with health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken and turkey, which together provide a delicious taste and aroma for the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in the poultry ensure good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

To provide dogs with extra valuable nutrients, super healthy vegetables have been added to our food. Vegetables are not only nutritious, but they also have other healthy properties. The crude fibre in vegetables is good for the gut and can, among other things, contribute to digestion.

Fruit

We add a unique combination of fruit to Yourdog, ensuring your dog gets all the essential, natural antioxidants. Fruit can be good for your dog's immune system, but it can also contribute to fresh breath or maintaining healthy digestion. These natural ingredients promote your dog's health.

Herbs

The healthy herbs that enrich our food come from plants in Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants and seaweeds, among other things, dates back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in the dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the size of the dog, the breed or the breed group, certain ingredients are given extra attention. Breed-specific complaints can be reduced by using herbs, roots, flowers and plants.

Slovenski cuvac-specific vegetables, herbs and fruit

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Slovenski cuvac. We have also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Slovenski cuvac belongs. From these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Slovenski cuvac.

Glucosamine

Glucosamine is an endogenous substance found in joints, cartilage, joint fluid and tendons. Glucosamine stimulates cartilage production and keeps joints flexible.

Glucosamine is one of the most commonly used supplements for dogs with osteoarthritis and/or joint problems. This is not only the case for older dogs, or (overweight) dogs, but also increasingly for younger, very active dogs. For example, due to a hereditary predisposition to joint problems. For these and other reasons, glucosamine is added to our dog food.

Carrot

The carrot as we know it today, or the orange carrot, is the result of many years of cross-breeding. The first white carrots originally came from Iran and were brought to the Netherlands by the VOC in the 17th century.

Carrots are an important source of vitamins and fibre. For example, carrots contain retinol (vitamin A1) and beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in the body. This is important for the development of capillaries and the health of all cells. The fibre in a carrot contributes to the dog's digestion. In addition, carrots are low in calories and good for coat and skin.

At Yourdog, we add carrot to dog food because it can positively contribute to preventing breed-specific complaints related to the dog's coat and skin. But also to promote good vision and healthy digestion.

Banana

The banana plant grows in tropical regions where the temperature does not drop below 10 degrees Celsius. There is even evidence that the banana may have been cultivated in New Guinea about 7,000 years ago. The name is derived from the word 'Obanaana' from the language of the Wolof people.

Bananas are rich in vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A, C and B11 (folic acid) and the minerals potassium, magnesium, iron and zinc. The natural antioxidant, vitamin C, can strengthen immunity. Vitamin B11, or folic acid, can support the immune system and contribute to a well-functioning nervous system. It can also reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Potassium can also help lower blood pressure in dogs with high blood pressure, and magnesium can help relax muscles and promote bone growth. In addition, bananas contain many good fibres and increase beneficial bacteria in the gut.

Puppy, adult or senior?

To help you choose between our Slovenski cuvac dog food variants, you can use the following guidelines. If your Slovenski cuvac is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For a Slovenski cuvac older than 7 years, we recommend Yourdog Slovenski cuvac senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variant.

If your Slovenski cuvac doesn't seem to like its Yourdog dog food, please contact us. We will help you analyse the problems. If we cannot resolve it together, we will refund your purchase price.

Transition advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another brand of food, we recommend following these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this again for two or three days. Then mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. After this, you can start feeding 100% Yourdog Slovenski cuvac dog food at your discretion.

Storage advice

After opening the Yourdog package, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage box or container in a dry, cool and dark place. It is best not to put the food loosely in the container, but to place it in the container with the entire bag, which you close as well as possible.
