Our ingredients

To make our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, so that it can be processed better into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruits, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffaloes. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich color and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is packed with health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken, and turkey, which together provide a delicious taste and aroma to the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in poultry ensure good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

To provide your dog with extra valuable nutrients, super healthy vegetables have been added to our food. Vegetables are not only nutritious, but they also have other healthy properties. The raw fiber in vegetables is good for the intestines and can contribute to digestion, among other things.

Herbs

The healthy herbs that enrich our food come from plants from Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants, and algae, among others, has its origins thousands of years ago. These ingredients support the natural processes in your dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the size of the dog, the breed, or the breed group, ingredients are given extra attention. Breed-specific complaints can be reduced by using herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.

Dachshund specific vegetables, herbs and fruits

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Dachshund. We also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Dachshund belongs. From these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutrition experts, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Dachshund.

Dog Rose

Dog rose is native to Europe; the shrub in which the rose grows can reach up to four meters in height. The rose blooms in June and July, and the flowers are usually light pink or sometimes white.

The plant is packed with vitamin C and is also rich in vitamin A, B, various minerals, and antioxidants. At Yourdog, we add dog rose because it could support the immune system and counteract infections.

Yucca

This plant grows in the deserts of Southwest America and Northern Mexico. The roots of the yucca have been used for centuries by the Indians in these areas as a medicine against rheumatism and arthritis. It inhibits pain and inflammation in the joints.

Yucca can be added to our dog food because it could make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to rheumatism, arthritis, osteoarthritis, the intestines, and the heart. Yucca can also reduce the strong smell of feces and remedies smelly farts.

Cranberry

The cranberry is a plant from the heath family. This plant is mainly found in the Netherlands on the Wadden Islands and is very rare in the rest of the Netherlands. The plant originally comes from North America and is said to have first arrived in the Netherlands around 1845.

Cranberries contain a unique mix of nutrients that can provide a powerful health boost for dogs. The berries are, among other things, rich in minerals such as potassium, which ensures a healthy level of vital fluids in the body. These berries are also packed with vitamins A, B, and C and antioxidants to support the immune system. Vitamin C makes the urine more acidic, which makes the environment in the bladder less attractive for bacteria. The addition of cranberry can also have a pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effect. The healthy fibers in cranberries have a healthy effect on digestion and ensure a longer feeling of fullness.

Cranberry is added to our dog food because it could make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to, among other things, digestion, skin, joints, bones, and nerve functions.

Puppy, adult or senior?

To help you make the right choice between our Dachshund dog food variants, you can use the following guidelines. If your Dachshund is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For a Dachshund older than 7 years, we recommend Yourdog Dachshund senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variant.

We are convinced of the quality of our food. That is why we provide a palatability guarantee on all Yourdog packaging. If your Dachshund does not seem to like its Yourdog dog food, please contact us. We will help you analyze the problems. If we cannot resolve it together, you will receive a refund of the purchase price from us.

Feeding advice

Transition advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another food brand, we advise you to follow the steps below. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this again for two or three days. Then mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. After this, you can start feeding 100% Yourdog Dachshund dog food at your own discretion.

Storage advice

After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage box or container in a dry, cool, and dark place. It is best not to put the food loosely in the container, but to place it with the entire bag, which you close as well as possible, in the container.
