Our ingredients

To make our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, so it can be processed better into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruits, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich color, and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is full of health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken, and turkey, which together provide a delicious taste and aroma to the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in poultry ensure good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

Depending on the size of the dog, the breed or breed group, certain ingredients are given extra attention. Breed-specific complaints can be reduced by using herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.

Västgötaspets-specific vegetables, herbs, and fruits

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Västgötaspets. We have also investigated the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Västgötaspets belongs. From these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Västgötaspets.

Licorice Root

Licorice root is derived from the Greek glyks for "sweet" and rhiza for "root," and is also known as Glycyrrhiza glabra. The plant originated in Eurasia, North Africa, and West Asia. Since ancient times, licorice has been attributed medicinal properties, and the root is often used for preparing herbal tea.

Licorice root is said to have a soothing effect on mucous membranes and is also believed to have anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties. In addition, it can contribute to the recovery of the gastric mucosa and is said to be good for a sensitive gastrointestinal system.

Marigold

The marigold (calendula) is a plant that, like goldenrod, belongs to the daisy family. Calendula is a cultivated flower; it has been used for its diverse medicinal properties for a long time. The original calendula species probably originated in Asia and Eastern Europe, but this field marigold is now rarely found in the wild. Marigold is also an edible plant for humans and is rich in nutrients.

There is a lot of information available about the positive effects of calendula. Calendula can be added to our dog food because it could positively contribute to preventing breed-specific complaints related to the skin, mouth, throat, digestion, eyes, and feet. It is especially good for the recovery of skin and mucous membranes, it has anti-inflammatory properties, and a regenerating effect. It can also prevent cramps during the digestive process.

Calendula is mainly used as an external care product for scratches or skin problems, among other things. But it can also be used internally due to its regenerating properties.

Tomato

The tomato is part of the nightshade family and comes from the tomato plant, originally from Mesoamerica. Small varieties were cultivated in Mesoamerica by the Aztecs and Mayans. In 1893, it was decided in America that the fruit should be considered a vegetable.

At Yourdog, we use tomatoes at a culinary level, treating tomatoes as a vegetable.

Tomatoes are rich in nutrients, low in calories, and have a high soluble fiber content, which contributes to digestion. Tomatoes also contain lycopene, which gives them their red color. The redder a tomato is, the more lycopene it contains. Besides giving a tomato its red color, it is also known as a powerful antioxidant. Research has shown that lycopene can, among other things, offer protection against cancer and can help with cardiovascular diseases. In addition, tomatoes contain a lot of vitamin C and vitamin A and B complexes, which can contribute to healthy skin and an improved immune system.

Tomato is added to our dog food because it could positively contribute to preventing breed-specific complaints related to digestion, skin, vision, and cardiovascular diseases. In addition, it can have a general purifying effect on the body.

Puppy, adult, or senior?

To help you make the right choice between our Västgötaspets dog food variants, you can use the following guidelines. If your Västgötaspets is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For a Västgötaspets older than 7 years, we recommend Yourdog Västgötaspets Senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variant.

If your Västgötaspets does not seem to like its Yourdog dog food, please contact us. We will help you analyze the problems. If we cannot resolve it together, you will receive a refund of the purchase amount.

Feeding advice

Transition advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another brand of food, we recommend following these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this again for two or three days. After that, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog will now be almost completely switched to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. At your own discretion, you can then start feeding 100% Yourdog Västgötaspets dog food.

Storage advice

After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage container or bin in a dry, cool, and dark place. It is best not to pour the food loosely into the bin, but to place it with the entire bag, which you close as well as possible, into the bin.
