Our ingredients

To make our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, making it easier to process into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruits, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for dogs.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffaloes. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich colour and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is bursting with health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken and turkey, which together provide a delicious taste and aroma to the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in the poultry ensure good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

The healthy herbs that enrich our food come from plants originating in Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants, and algae, among other things, dates back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in the dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the size of the dog, the breed or breed group, certain ingredients are highlighted. Breed-specific complaints can be reduced by using herbs, roots, flowers and plants.

Västgötaspets specific vegetables, herbs, and fruit

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Västgötaspets. We have also investigated the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Västgötaspets belongs. From these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Västgötaspets.

Licorice Root

Licorice root is derived from the Greek glyks for "sweet" and rhiza for "root", hence it is also called Glycyrrhiza glabra. The plant's origin lies in Eurasia, North Africa and West Asia. Medicinal properties have been attributed to liquorice since ancient times, and the root is often used for making herbal tea.

Licorice root is said to have a soothing effect on mucous membranes and also to have anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties. In addition, it can contribute to the recovery of the gastric mucosa and is said to be good for a sensitive gastrointestinal system.

Marigold

The marigold (calendula) is a plant that, like goldenrod, belongs to the composite family. Calendula is a cultivated flower; it has been used for its various medicinal properties for centuries. The original calendula species probably grew in Asia and Eastern Europe, but this field marigold is now rarely found in the wild. Marigold is also an edible plant for humans and is rich in nutrients.

There is a lot of information available about the positive effects of calendula. Calendula can be added to our dog food because it could make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to the skin, mouth, throat, digestion, eyes and feet. It is especially good for the recovery of skin and mucous membranes, has anti-inflammatory properties and a regenerating effect. It can also prevent cramps during the digestion process.

Calendula is primarily used as an external care product for scrapes or skin problems, among other things. However, it can also be used internally due to its regenerating properties.

Tomato

The tomato is part of the nightshade family and originates from the tomato plant, originally from Mesoamerica. Small varieties were cultivated in Mesoamerica by the Aztecs and Mayans. In 1893, it was decided in America that the fruit should be considered a vegetable.

At Yourdog, we use tomatoes on a culinary level, considering tomatoes as a vegetable.

Tomatoes are rich in nutrients, low in calories, and have a high soluble fiber content that aids digestion. Tomatoes also contain lycopene, which gives them their red color. The redder a tomato is, the more lycopene it contains. Besides giving tomatoes their red color, it is also known as a powerful antioxidant. Research has shown that lycopene can offer protection against cancer and can help with cardiovascular diseases, among other things. In addition, tomatoes contain a lot of vitamin C and vitamin A and B complexes, which can contribute to healthy skin and an improved immune system.

Tomato is added to our dog food because it can make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to digestion, skin, vision and cardiovascular diseases. In addition, it can have a general purifying effect on the body.

Puppy, adult or senior?

To help you make the right choice between our Västgötaspets dog food variants, you can use the following guidelines. If your Västgötaspets is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For a Västgötaspets older than 7 years, we recommend the . If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variant.

Transition advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another food brand, we advise you to follow these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this for two or three days as well. After that, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. At your own discretion, you can then start feeding 100% Yourdog Västgötaspets dog food.

Storage advice

After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage box or container in a dry, cool and dark place. It is best not to put the food loosely in the container, but to place it with the entire bag, which you close as tightly as possible, into the container.
